Application of the Call to Minister!

Luke 10:38-42

As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."

As we can see, our Lord was far more concerned with people's spiritual need which is eternal, than for their temporary physical needs which will only satisfy or reward them in this life.

An often common saying, "You are unable to see the forest for the trees", is such a fitting statement for a situation such as this one.

If it were not for the trees there would be no forest!!!

Each individual tree is unique and much like people, IS what a caretaker should be concerned with.

Whatever the calling from God is in a person's life, that calling must NEVER be disputed or downplayed by any other believer who would like to see their service as being far more worthy or noble.

If Christ deemed it more important to minister to people than make preparations for gatherings, then HIS example is the one to follow!!!

Sadly, for those believers who MUST bring attention to themselves and their acts of service whatever it may be, making preparations, being in charge, praying, fasting or chastising those who desire to do the Lord's work of ministry, have grossly misunderstood the role and application of a true servant!

Lord, teach me the better way,

That I may meet the true needs of those,

Who seek for a hope from their despair!

As YOU have called me into this walk with YOU,

I rely upon YOUR every WORD for my direction,

Knowing this, I must be led by YOU alone!

A reward of eternal value,

Is YOUR promise to me,

When I seek to follow YOUR example!!!
