Volume 2 Chapter 5 Page 15

Wednesday December 20, 2006       29 Kislev 5767

"Why Jesus Came!"

"HE IS The Gift!"

Mark 8:34-36 (New International Version)

Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?

When buying the perfect gift for that special person in my life, I should base my choice on my knowledge of their need and how the gift will confirm my love and devotion.

God gave The Perfect Gift, a Savior and Redeemer, a choice that was based on my need, and confirmed HIS deep Love for me.

The Magi gave special gifts of gold, incense and myrrh, based on their knowledge of who Christ is, a King with a heavenly throne, a servant with an earthly appointment and as a sacrifice confirming God's promise.

My need for forgiveness and reconciliation, was met by Christ Jesus as God"s Perfect Gift, which never fades, rots or loses value and I can give over and over again to others.

With mortality being only temporal, and immortality being infinite, will I be like the drum beating rabbit in the commercial, POWERed by God's EVER-READY Spirit, with long-lasting determination to proclaim the Gospel of Christ to a generation who NEEDs to receive The Perfect Gift of Eternal Life?

As Christ said, what good is a gift that will perish with the giver, when Eternal Life has been offered and is a choice I make for the need of another's soul.

Father, my heart is wrapped in YOUR Love,
my soul is a present fit for my King!
Every good and perfect gift,
comes from YOU in heaven above!!
May others receive the Gift of YOUR Promise,
eternal in value and paid for with HIS Blood!!!
YOUR Gospel will be on my lips,
for I must give YOUR WORD to all in need!

Amen!
