"Persevere!"

"Keep on keepin' on!"

Many of you have either heard this familiar phrase or even said it yourself. It lends itself to our determination to stay on course, on track and dedicated to the task which is currently before us. We never waver, slack up or look back at our past failures, rather we press on despite every obstacle or opposition.

I have one memorable event that stands out in my mind as one that is quite suitable to be used as an example, especialy when dealing with obstacles and opposition.

Are you in a current situation, that to you seems to be going nowhere, without any forseeable hope of there being an outcome that could be worth all the effort?

What seemed to be an unattainable goal for me at the time, was a computer and network conversion project that would completely change forever the way my job function as an Information Technology Manager would be affected. And for that matter anyone who came behind me in the way of managing the rapidly growing regional network of highly efficient computers, networks and the equipment required to sustain a competitive edge in an already pushed to the limit business and financial establishment.

To a point, this may sound like some farfetched utopian philosophy, where the bondage to all former principles are removed, and freedom and liberty exists and reigns supreme, without limit! Reminds me of the enormous task set before Moses by our Lord God, in the way of gathering between 2 and 3 million men, women and children, for a long desired journey towards an unseen but promised land nevertheless, of reward and opportunity flowing with milk and honey. A formidable picture of heaven in my mind, to say the least!

Back to my story though for the sake of comparison. Combining all the proper elements, planning, preparation and evaluation, in keeping with the project's goal in mind. This takes weeks and even months of reading and studying a variety of manuals, and then compiling all the procedures necessary to perform the project, rehearsing in a test environment all of these, to come to a point or place that effort equals success.

As we read the story of Moses, and the obstacles and opposition he faced, you can probably picture the same with a project that I have mentioned here alongside this account. One of having goal oriented leadership, Moses had Jehovah God to move those obstacles and squelch all the opposition in the way of success. In much the same way, there are those same obstacles and opposing voices that have to be dealt with in order for sucess to the the outcome.

Only by ENDURING, did Moses throughout the 40 years of wandering in the wilderness with the God revealed vision of a utopian paradise for God's people, did he PERSEVERE to the very end.

The WORD of God has references by which we can find strength and comfort for PERSEVERANCE!

  Psalm 102:11-13 (Amplified Bible)

My days are like an evening shadow that stretches out and declines [with the sun]; and I am withered like grass.
But You, O Lord, are enthroned forever; and the fame of Your name endures to all generations.
You will arise and have mercy and loving-kindness for Zion, for it is time to have pity and compassion for her; yes, the set time has come [the moment designated].

It is only by having leaders and leadership that have a past and proven record, who are willing to listen and react to each and every situation with wisdom, does success ever become reality. Just having a vision, not withstanding a perceived calling, as opposed to one such as Moses, who received both entirely from God our Father, does this in any way, shape, form or fashion mean that obstacles and opposition are not part of the process.

In daily walking with God, OBEDIENCE and unwavering FAITH in HIS Vision, are the qualities that HE seeks in leaders of HIS people, towards that heavenly paradise that is promised after a long and arduous campaign we sometimes refer to as LIFE! Freedom and liberty, God's Promise to HIS Faithful followers, believing only HE can provide the Light by which we walk daily in our wilderness.

Father, as my Leader, I walk by those still waters,
that run deep, and Know that YOU are my God!
YOUR WORD is my Blessed Assurance that Jesus is Mine,
to listen and obey without worry of trials!!
O' what a foretaste of YOUR Glory divine,
for I Know my journey on YOUR pathway staight,
in having my every footstep being ordained by YOU!!!

Forever and Amen!!!
