Listen

Thursday January 19, 2006       19 Tebeth 5766

"Will you be still for just a minute, and listen to me?"

How many times as a child did you hear this?
How many times as a parent have you said this to your child or someone close to you?

As a parent, I must be carefully and prayerfully prepared for this situation.

Whether it is to teach a lesson, impart wisdom or just issue a caution or correction, brings to my mind how my Loving Father God waits patiently for me to be quiet and still,

so HE can INSTRUCT me!

It is all about the results that eventually comes afterwards from what is said. Most importantly, many feel that their instruction is law, and must be adhered to irregardless with respect for God's Law and Instruction through Holy Spirit. Where many err, it is without having consulted with God, proceeding with vain and irresponsible indoctrinations and endless babble stating who the parent is and who is the child.

Several verses of scripture from God's WORD come to mind,

Exodus 15:26

He said, "If you listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes,
if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians,
for I am the LORD, who heals you."

Exodus 23:21-23

21 Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him.
22 If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you.

Leviticus 26:13-15

13 I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians; I broke the bars of your yoke and enabled you to walk with heads held high.
14 " 'But if you will not listen to me and carry out all these commands,
15 and if you reject my decrees and abhor my laws and fail to carry out all my commands and so violate my covenant,

Numbers 12:6

6 he said, "Listen to my words:
"When a prophet of the LORD is among you,
I reveal myself to him in visions,
I speak to him in dreams.

Deuteronomy 5:27

Go near and listen to all that the LORD our God says. Then tell us whatever the LORD our God tells you. We will listen and obey."

Deuteronomy 18:18-19

18 I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him.
19 If anyone does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name, I myself will call him to account.

Deuteronomy 21:18

18 If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him,
19 his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town.

Deuteronomy 32:1-2

1 Listen, O heavens, and I will speak;
hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
2 Let my teaching fall like rain
and my words descend like dew,
like showers on new grass,
like abundant rain on tender plants.

There are over 400 verses in God's WORD that relate to listening;

O'Lord,
I will read each and every one, praying that I will never quench the
fire of Holy Spirit that burns deep within my heart!
As a Loving Father, YOU wait patiently to speak,
I must also wait, knowing YOU are my Lord!!
Listening to YOUR WORD, and being driven by it,
like a storm going forth over the nations!!!
