"Advancing Towards Maturity!"
Having no known writer, the Book of Hebrews is an 'Authored' by 'Inspired' revelation of God's WORD through Holy Spirit, just as any other of the selected New Testament writings.
It's inclusion as 'sound and effectual' doctrine for Believers in Christ, is unquestioned, and continues to stand as definitive proof of God's WORD even today, some 2000 years after being written.
As for the mention of 'abandonment' to those dead WORKS of my flesh, I am instructed by this book's writer, to 'advance' towards a 'complete and perfecting' maturity that must be based entirely upon spiritual understanding and knowledge, attained strictly by my submission to God's Spirit.
Historically, this book makes reference to God's 'enduring and ongoing' WORK through which many Old Testament men and women gained only a 'spiritual and prophetic' glimpse of Christ Jesus.
Through reading and studying these eyewitness and personal accounts of seeing and hearing God's Truth as alive in Christ Jesus, do I then gain a mature understanding of how important it is to concentrate on my own spiritual growth into those things which God desires to quide me into by HIS Spirit.
That statement in itself, literally strengthens my Faith, causing me to dedicate myself to study more diligenty God's WORD.
Therefore, I must never be so naive as one to think that I should in any way limit God and HIS Power to teach me, instruct me and perfect me into who and what HE sovereignly desires, in HIS transformation of me to become, as a fulfillment of HIS Divine Will and Purpose.
