"LOOK upon that Cross!"
God used symbolism when HE instructed Moses to make the bronze serpent, and when this image was lifted up, healing came and all who looked upon it were saved.
I see why God used the image of a bronze snake, as this is a reminder of the curse which God placed upon the devil when Adam and Eve rebelled in the Garden.
Significant in it's meaning, this represents SIN, which is also what Jesus was refering to as HE was soon to be HIMself crucified, lifted upon that cross, to bring healing and restore LIFE to all who will look upon HIM and believe.
Lest the meaning be lost in some deep theological discourse, God simply provides Salvation and Eternal Life to anyone who will accept Christ Jesus.
Cursed to death through rebellion and SIN,
It occurs to me that as God uses symbolism many times as a means of displaying a spiritual Truth, I must also accept it's many uses, as this is how Jesus taught HIS disciples.
With having received the 'mind of Christ', much more of what HE desires to teach me will become understanding, as I receive counsel and revelation of HIS WORD through Holy Spirit.
Sin and death is bitter fruit produced by the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, yet in Christ God provides a much sweeter and desired fruit of Holiness and Righteousness, which comes only from the Tree of Life, and all who desire the harvest of such things will one day eat from the Lord's table a meal prepared for those who look upon HIM for LIFE.
